WHAT IS ALCOHOL INK ?

Alcohol Ink is a fluid art. It is a dye-based ink that is transparent, fast drying and richly pigmented, creating extremely vibrant colors. This acid-free medium works well on hard, non-pourous surfaces such as ceramic, glass, metal, hard core panels and stone. These inks glide freely and have a mind of their own, especially after adding a few drops of alcohol. The use of various techniques such as gentle blowing, tipping the surface, brushing or using air tools can easily manipulate the inks. A dried ink design can also be easily changed or wiped away with use of alcohol, prior to varnishing.

Unlike acrylic paint, alcohol ink can be “revived.” This means that when dried ink comes into contact with fresh ink or alcohol, it reacts and can be further processed, allowing for unique and versatile effects.

ALCOHOL INK CLASSES

Our classes in Alcohol Ink are geared for smaller groups, allowing for more individual attention and ease of viewing demonstrations. We require a minimum of five (5) participants with a maximum of twelve (12) participants for the group classes.

In our Alcohol Ink classes you will have the option to choose your own color inks and explore a variety of designs. Our instructor will demonstrate how to create beautiful, unique abstract, floral and landscape designs with ink. Watching the ink blend and take its own shape is super exciting.. then learn how to aide the ink movement by blowing or bushing it… its all lots of fun and exciting .. and no experience is necessary. We provide all the supplies necessary including a wide assortment of alcohol ink, a full palette, brushes, stamps, air blowers and protective gloves. Many samples are provided .. choose one design or try them all. Don’t like what you started, simply wipe it away with rubbing alcohol and start over. It’s that easy!

Class duration is two hours. Each participant will complete several pieces of artwork on a variety of surfaces such as tile, photo paper, card stock.
